This Cardboard Wall Mural made for Raymond India challenges our perception of wall art by creating a sculpture from cardboard; a seemingly throwaway material, to adorn the entrance façade to a grand convention center. Spanning a width of 48 feet, this wall mural is handmade using 14000 waste cardboard tubes procured from their textile mill in Maharashtra, which are used in storing their fabric.  These cardboard tubes are difficult to store and recycle owing to their strength and size. The immediate access of cardboard and its challenging nature of working is what lured us to upcycle this material. The dynamic cylindrical cardboard conduits of varying sizes and diameters grafted into wooden panels with an acupuncture-like precision shares a peaceful co-existence with the client’s sustainable philosophy.
Situated in the expansive head office of Raymond in Thane (Mumbai) this convention center draws crowd from all over the world during their annual Global Dealer week. Remotely located from traffic snarls amidst a lush green campus, this project was sheathed in an organic tranquillity.  The rough organic flow of the stiff cardboard tubes  draped in a striking “brown on brown” composition complete the tactile user experience.
